Random Sampling
A sampling method where every member of the population has an equal chance of being selected.
Population
The entire group of items or individuals that you want to study or gather information about.
Sample
A smaller group selected from the population, used to represent the whole population.
Advantages of Random Sampling
It is unbiased and gives every member of the population an equal chance of being selected.
Disadvantages of Random Sampling
It can be time-consuming and difficult to carry out if the population is large or hard to access.
How to Perform Random Sampling
Assign a number to each member of the population, then use a random number generator or draw numbers from a hat to select the sample.
Bias in Sampling
Occurs when certain members of the population are more likely to be selected than others, making the sample unrepresentative.
Representative Sample
A sample that accurately reflects the characteristics of the population.
Random Number Generator
A tool or method used to generate random numbers, often used in random sampling to select members of the population.
Why Use Random Sampling?
To ensure fairness and reduce bias, making the results more reliable and valid.
